Environment Policy
Jones Building Contractors aspires to act responsibly in minimising the impact of its activities on the environment both on site and within the offices.
We consider ourselves a "green" company and normal business activities are adapted and developed to strive to follow "green" agendas. Our company has gained accreditation with ISO 14001:2004, Green Accord and has a written Environmental policy, which addresses the "green" agendas and includes sustainability issues. The policy and accreditation is reviewed and assessed annually.
We actively promote our Environmental policy throughout the company, and ensure all employees receive environmental training appropriate to their role and responsibilities. Jones Building Contractors' aspirations are promoted with customers, subcontractors and suppliers and serve to strengthen relationships with those whose "green" aspirations complement those of Jones Building Contractors.
We recognise the benefits of responsible purchasing, preferring to use alternative materials, products and services with reduced environmental and/or social impacts whenever these can be commercially justified. This includes using timber from well managed renewable sources whose dedication to the environment mirrors the company's policy. The policy for responsible purchasing applies to office staff as well as those on site.
We segregate waste for recycling or reuse whenever conditions permit, or use waste handlers that sort and recycle waste, reducing the quantity of waste sent for landfill or incineration. Our company minimises waste and makes efficient use of energy and materials on site and in the offices.
Jones Building Contractors minimises the risk of pollution on site by adopting the requirements of the Environment Agency Pollution Prevention Guideline 6 "Working at Construction and Demolition Sites" as a minimum standard for all sites under Jones Building Contractors' control.
We recognise the impact on communities in the areas in which we work and aim to manage activities to minimise the effects on the community with regard to noise, odours, air, dust, litter, transportation and parking.
Reports are created annually on the activities during the year and targets/objectives for the next year as well as longer term plans. Environmental audits are carried out at the end of every project, the results of which are incorporated into Jones Building Contractors' KPI's.
